Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens
June is a great month to get the whole family out for a walk at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. There are beautiful sites along the 300-acre gardens, nearly 5 miles of hiking trails, tours, classes and events, and so much more. Your summer will be filled with beauty with a trip or two to this fabulous KC spot.
The Kansas City Zoo
The Kansas City Zoo is a great place for summer family fun because as they so aptly put it – “Adventure awaits kids of all ages.” There are special theme days, public events, day camps, overnight ventures, and of course ANIMALS! Check out the penguin cam to watch these cute creatures at home after your visit!
Nelson Atkins Art Museum
The Nelson Atkins Art Museum offers free hands-on activities for children and families on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, plus the free Family Festivals focusing on different cultures are fantastic! You can also go to great performances, story time events, workshops, and more at the museum. We think you will want to plan more than one day for a trip to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum!
The Neighborhood Pool
And of course we can’t forget the neighborhood pool. That is adventure waiting to happen! Next time you go, check this site out beforehand so you can bring along a few pool game ideas.
